Does Lord Krishna need to take Management lessons in guiding Arjuna ?

Does Lord Krishna need to take management lessons in guiding Arjuna

Seems YES..

Treta Yuga Lord Krishna and 'Karmanyevadhikaari' way of guiding Arjuna certainly needs some new inputs. Whether Lord Krishna needs training or not Modern Lord Krishna who are take the responsibility in guiding their chelas and students surely cannot take to the Lord Krishna path !

There is need to recognize that   Gen Y of needs Gen Y Lord Krishna like managers !

1. Lord Krishna's guidance on how to approach work for Arjuna is illustrated in the following shloka  in Hindhi version ..

कर्मणयेवाधिकारस्ते  मा फलेषु कदाचन।
मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि।   2.47

English version of this stanza reads like..

Karmanye vadhikaraste Ma Phaleshu Kadachana,
Ma Karmaphalaheturbhurma Te
Sangostvakarmani

English translation of lines :

1. “You have a right to perform your prescribed action,

2. but you are not entitled to the fruits of your action.

3. Never consider yourself the cause of the results your activities,

4. and never be associated to not doing your duty.”

It is find to bear with the words of Lord Krishna. Set of questions for OB and HR professionals :
However this does not mean everything Lord Krishna said will be acceptable to Gen Y Arjunas !

Some of the questions that are raised are ...

1.  If Arjuna has the choice to do / not to do the work prescribed  for according to birth of the Arjuna ? ... NO Choice .....It is duty .. Must do..

2. If Arjuna has the choice to select the work that is liking to him  ? ... NO Choice .....! !

3. If Arjuna  has got  any control over the final outcome out of the work ?  ... NO Control .....

4.  If Arjuna is the reason for achievement of  final outcomes ? ... NO Choice .....GOD is the reason for outcome !

5.  If Arjuna has any  right over the results of his actions  ? ... NO RIGHT  ....Done for GOD !

6.  If Arjuna has the choice to shield from the negative outcomes if any that affect Arjuna ? ... NO Choice .....

7. If Krishna can do something which help  Arjuna to pickup his choice of work ? ... YES He can  .....

8. If Krishna can do something which help  Arjuna to shield the onslaught of the negative outcomes of doing the Karma  ? ... YES.. He can  .....

9. If so, what is the contribution of Krishna in all this doing the Karma  ? ... No role to play  at all ! .....

10.. Does  this  mean Lord Krishna is  playing a role like this ?

Lord Krishna is trying to see that Arjuna assume  responsibility to pick up the work prescribed for him  in which he is   ( 1 ) not interested;  and Arjuna  takes the responsibility to do the work with  ( 2 ) full potential  that Arjuna has  ( 3 ) and no right to the final results of the work . Further Arjuna  must undertake the  ( 4 )  undesirable results, if any, deeming them as the GODs will for Arjuna  ..

At the same time Lord KRISHNA ( 5 ) plays tacit and anti  role  against the wish of Arjuna to see to that disinterested  work  is inflicted on millions of  unwilling Eklavyas and Karnas with the reason showing that they are  born to do such a prescribed work  and they must bear the negative results with out any complaint ! .. What a curse this shloka advocates for the  millions of Karna and Eklavyas  !
-------------------

SO what .. then .. !

Gen Y Arjunas will  agree for most of the qns.. 1 to 9.. But they ask the Gen Y Krishna to work on the TWO important qns.. they are .. No.. 2 and No... 6..

2. If Arjuna has the choice to select the work that is liked ? ... NO Choice .....! !

6.  If Arjuna has the choice to shield from the negative outcomes if any that affect Arjuna ? ... NO Choice .....

It is here these two qns. will make all the difference..

If modern Krishna does not try to address Qns. 2 and 6 then the same Krishna will be accused of Qns. 9 and 10 ..

9. If so, what is the contribution of Krishna in all this doing the Karma  ? ... No role to play  at all ! .....

10.. Is this villain role played by Lord  Krishna try to inflict pain to Karnas and Eklavyas ?

What a curse this shloka advocates for the  millions of Karna and Eklavyas  !
------------------
Designing and Redesigning the Work !

Karma / Work , Purpose of Karma
Kaarmee ( Doer) ,  Mindset , Competence
Guru  role - Krishna
Exclusion / Inclusion of worker;
Outcome of work - Positive / Negative,
Redesigning / Innovating the work by Krishna  for Simplification - Ease and enjoyment  , Efficiency, Inclusion..

Take the case of  the way KARMA was picked up by KARNA / EKLAVYA !

1. RIGHT TO CHOOSE WORK or RIGHT TO FRUITS of Karma ! Karma allocation among  Arjunas .. Karnas !
- Everybody is entitled for the every Work !
- Inclusivity of work to one and all !
- Right to do your ( my )  or any work ! Who decides which work is to whom ? Competence / Birth / Individual Will / Society norms
Every person is allocated the kind of work suited to the body that they take up !  As per four Varnas !

Rule is ... Your liking / wish  has no role  in picking up the work you want to do !

You are born in to the work you are going to pick up by your birth..Not by your choice  and liking .. !

It is not  the decision by Arjuna and nor the allocation  by Krishna of work ! It is the F A T E which decides the work to be done by the worker !  . It is NOT the worker who picks up the work.

Arjuna / Karna's  desire  to do work must override and their Competence must lead the work they will do !

Here work can be picked up by the Arjuna and Eklavyas on their own as per their wish and will  ( and not even based on competence !)

Work can be remodeled (by Krishna )  in such a way that any work can be done by any worker irrespective of the talents, skills ..and birth !  Krishna with his expertise can remodel the work in such a way that 'not talented' persons lack of talents used as a criteria  to exclude certain persons to do the work is unjust  !

Case of Hyderabad based blind person who made it to MIT Engg. due to his interests  and not due to ones  endowments ! It is the work and contribution done by the Krishna in favour of blind boy from Hyderabad to achieve this  possible  !

2. Karma's negative result !
- Arjuna can  " NOT entitle for the NEGATIVE' fruits of work !
- Negative results are easily avoidable with the help and  design thinking / and proper plan by  Krishna !

3. Eklavyas and Karnas are made to believe  ..

.. You have responsibility to pick up the work forced upon you which you are  ( 1 ) not interested and you have the responsibility to do the work with  ( 2 ) full potential  and you have  ( 3 ) no right to the results of the work  , you must undertake the  ( 4 )  undesirable result as the GODs will for you .. At the same time KRISHNA ( 5 ) plays tacit and anti  role  againest you ..by seeing to that bad  work is done through millions of  unwilling Eklavyas and Karnas with the reason showing that they are  born to do such a work  and they must bear the negative results with pleasure ! .. What a fun this   is ..

What a curse this shloka advocates for the  millions of Karna and Eklavyas  !

3 .  What is the role of KRISHNA in Karma ! Is there any role .. ! Is this role stressed in the shloka?
-  Krishna can see to it that Arjuna can  " NOT be entitled  for the NEGATIVE' fruits of work !
Sure..  Good results  due to action are outside of the Arjuna and  his working. But avoiding the undesirable results due to action is possible ! This can be possibly done by Krishna..

Krishna+ Arjuna  together can plan to avoid such painstaking results ..

Avoiding Negative is  surely can be done ! ..It is not UNFAIR to do so ! Planning Positive  may not be accurate.. But surely negative can be planned !

This issue is paid  no attention  / neglected / ignored aspect related to KRISHNA role !  The shloka stresses too much on the part of Arjuna without focusing on Krishna role .. Gen Y and new times expect this change !
.. Arjuna played the cricket very hard.. But Arjuna cannot be  a victim of /  targeted for the loss due to playing Cricket ! Pl. note here .. Arjuna is not focused on the positive results but on negative results ! But Arjuna can be careful not to get over empowered by the negative results !

- A startup can be designed in such a way that it cannot have loses.. it might and or might not have profits..It is possible to plan a startup . Lean startup is the model that suggests that framework ..

- A mobile can be developed for 100 % UNEDU.. or HIGHLY EDU.. It is a choice .. Krishna does this .

-  A journey might be designed to give BENEFT  for sure  at the same time not to inflict  LOSS ! .. KRISHNA does this .. Arjuna cannot be penalized and burdened and blamed and exploited for this.

Hare and Tortoise Race - A Perspective of Human Resoruce Management

Hare and Tortoise Story  -  HRM Perspective

Hare and Tortoise is children story with a moral. Everybody would have heard this story. Slide share has a source - http://www.slideshare.net/HasbiSeptiansyah/teamwork-10996042... Read it is you want to know more on this.

This story can be taken as a good case for HRM understanding. Here is an attempt made on this. Sketchy details are given with. I wish the ISEM and ITM students try to understand and come out with their own conclusions for this sketch. Please dont feel constrained. Try to use your imagination and extend the story in expanding your  understanding of HRM course contents.

Post a blog on this. Dead line - ? I have not decided yet. Wait for it.

1  Who is faster -  Hare  Vs. Tortoise  ?

2  Hare  Vs. Tortoise  - On what criteria one is best ?

- Given fixed distance... Speed  and  Constancy will decide the winner

3  What is the purpose of competition ?
- Select / announce FASTER one

4  What is the RACE process implemented ?

- Race is the mode chosen
- Running track  is chosen
- Race beginning and destination is agreed upon
-  Relative time is the criteria

- Individual efforts are used

5  What are the assumptions of the competition ?

- Faster are preferred
- Both will demo their best K, S, As

6  Assumptions of conventional method chosen

- Hare's speed is greater than the tortoise
- Given this, Hare will WIN and Tortoise cannot WIN

7  During the race

- Hare is erratic in its effort
- Tortoise is consistent in its effort

8. HRM questions

Is faster preferred than slower
Whether path chosen is FAIR for both the contestants

9. HRM solutions

Alternate Solution 1: Same distance, each with their own  speeds, each of them working individually,  two different paths given to ( Hare - by road, Tortoise - by Water )  reaching  the destination with  relative time  consideration.
Alternate Solution 2: Same distance, each with their own  speeds, working each of them individually, same paths given ( Hare - by road, Tortoise - by Water )   reaching  the destination with NO relative time  consideration.

Alternate Solution 3: Same distance, mix of  paths (Road  + Pond ) given, both of them working as a team, each of them leveraging  their speeds as needed on the track   reaching  the destination with SHORTEST possible time  as the goal.

Performance = Function of  Effort, Skill, Method chosen ....

  • Is performance is real performance or only a projection of the potential performance ?
  • Whether method chosen for performance is in tune with the skills some body has to achieve the performance
  • Whether somebody has put in efforts for achieving performance?
  • Whether somebody has necessary skills to work on the methods chosen to achieve performance ?

Most of you have done some NAUKRI ( SERVANTSHIP ! ) with some L A L A..
Now as part of HRM you need to think that you are L A L A and
You took up the task of engage a person like you
as NAUKAR in your company..
The challenge  give to you as HRM course student
is to get best out of the employee..
Try to get ready to share your approach in the class tomorrow..

Some of the questions which you can  use to guide your thinking on this..
How much to be paid for such a person ? What are the benefits you want to offer ? What are the working conditions you want to offer ?

How do you select such a person ? what methods you want to apply ?

What is the job you want to offer to the person ? Where is the job located ? How difficult it was ? How nasty / ugly was the job ? what are the pain points in the job ?

What are the job outcomes you entrust the person ?How do you measure and appraise the person ? how do you control the person to do the job s/he is supposed to do ?

What trg. you want to offer the person ? what job related competencies need to be developed ? what is the list?

ON>> ON>>> ON>> so many things ..because now you are L A L A.. you want to get best out of the person. Because you are paying the person.

Get ready for the class tomorrow on these lines. This is the focus of HRM.. this is the subject of HRM.. How to do this effectively so that Human resources will offer the best to the organisaiton of yours.. We all know that there are not ready made answers. it is not science.. it is ART and PRACTICE.. you need to understand this as part of ISEM,,, and ITM.. see you tomorrow in class..

Task 3: Why dont you put up your PIC.. as part of the blog. I want to relate you with your blog..Hope there are no objections from any body for this ! !

Blog administrators.. Collection of blogs addresses at one place:

Kindly collect the blog threads of all the students - section wise and - rule number wise ... in a tabular form... and post it as blog address as one blog .. This will help me to to visit particular student blog easily.
